Konce architektury
The End(s) of Architecture
Esej Petera Eisenmana Konec klasického z roku 1984 patří k zásadním textům teorie architektury druhé poloviny dvacátého století a představuje klíčový příspěvek k porozumění tomu, čím je dnes architektura.
Projekty v tomto čísle Zlatého řezu představují různé pojetí vymezení konečnosti prostoru. Nekonečný dům Fridricha Kieslera z 50. let doprovází méně známý, ale o nic méně inspirativní Zavěšený dům Paula Nelsona z roku 1937. Současnými paralelami zkoumání nekonečnosti v konečném prostoru jsou realizace Bena van Berkela a jeho un studia: Möbiův dům a budova Laboratoří magnetické rezonance, které zviditelňují princip konstrukce prostoru pomocí definice povrchu.
Three texts by architects whose written work is equally important as the build and designed one: they show different positions of thinking about the ends in architecture. Bernard Tschumi suggests seeing architecture as an erotic object of flesh and bones. The EndSpace by Daniel Libeskind is a contemplation on the making of architectural space and the origin of architectural concept, on the autonomy of designing tools over their representative function. Peter Eisenman´s essay The End of the Classical from 1984 is one of fundamental texts of architectural theory of the second half of the 20th century, as such it is a key contribution to understanding what is architecture today.
The projects included show various positions of definition of space and its ends. The Endless House of Friedrich Kiesler from the 1950s is accompanied by much less known, but not less fascinating Suspended House project by Paul Nelson from 1937. Contemporary positions of producing the effect of endlessness within an enclosed three-dimensional space are the works by Ben van Berkel and un studio. Both the Möbius House and the NMR Laboratories building show how the space is constructed by defining its surface.
